good morning! has anybody else been loving the new sade album? apparently a lot of people are because it nabbed the top spot on the billboard charts - selling 500,000+ copies in its first week of release which is pretty amazing considering it's their first release in ten years! good morning y'all! today i wanted to highlight an emerging artist i first wrote about back in october of 2008 - janelle monáe (@janellemonae) i was in love with her song many moons off her EP release metropolis: the chase suite - now she's ready to release her full debut album the archandroid on may 18th - two brand new tracks are circulating on the web right now - the first cold war which you can listen to below and tightrope featuring big boi (of outkast fame) which is playing on ms. monáe's website! both tracks are excellent - leading me to believe this could be one of the hottest album releases this year! plus she's touring - and will be swinging by los angeles on march 23rd & 24th at the viper room - i will definitely be at one of those shows! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
good morning! as of late i've been on a hugeVV brown (@vvbrown) kick - i cannot get enough of her debut album travelling like the light which was just released here in the states (it debuted overseas last july) i also had the privilege of seeing her very first two US performances - the second was her official debut at my buddy arjan writes' superfraiche pop party - although she didn't come onto the stage until almost midnight - girlfriend put one of the best live performances i've ever seen - she was AMAZING! although it's barely two months into the new year - ms. brown has already secured a spot in my top favorite albums of 2010! enjoy this remix (wendel kos sunlight mix) of her super hot song shark in the water (i posted the video a few weeks ago) popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! i've been trying to work on my top ten favorite albums of the year (here's my 2008 list) the initial list has been made but i'm torn whether to include rihanna or not ... i'm in love with her new album rated R but when compared to her last effort good girl gone bad - it pales in comparison - however there really was no way to outdo that album ... it's one of my personal favorites and produced a number of amazingly hot pop singles!
it's tough to narrow a year down to a mere ten albums - i'm totally going to have 'honorable mentions'! at least i know which one's going to take the top spot - an album i was obsessed with - listening to it 2-3x a day for literally three months straight (i know some of you might have a good guess!) the list will be posted right at the end of the month! for now please enjoy this smokin' dance remix of rihanna's russian roulette - i wasn't overly crazy about this track when it first came out but it turned out to be a grower! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo

good morning! tomorrow my darling tori amos is releasing her very first seasonal album called midwinter graces (her 11th studio album) i've been listening to it for a few weeks now and it's amazing - it's perfect for people who aren't so keen on 'holiday' music - the songs all emanate a perfectly relaxing warmth! i actually find it to be better than her last album abnormally attracted to sin which i do like but i haven't really connected with it as much as her previous albums (i still need to spend some more time with it) besides covering classic songs - there's two brand new tracks penned by ms. amos (pink and glitter and our new year) thanks to imeem - you can listen to the entire album below! there's a bonus track verison available on itunes plus a deluxe edition which includes a DVD ... the holidays came early for us toriphiles! popbytes over & out for now ... xoxo
Midwinter Graces is an album that has been in the making for the past 40 years. Raised in the Baltimore area under the watchful eye of her Methodist minister father, Tori grew up playing holiday carols at Sunday services and Christmas Day celebrations in her father's church. These were the songs that gave a young Tori her first taste of music, and now almost 40 years later Tori gets her own chance to reimagine classics like "What Child, Nowell" and "Star of Wonder." Tori will also add her own bittersweet bliss to the season with original tracks like "Pink and Glitter" and "Our New Year."
For Midwinter Graces, Amos has again teamed up with long time collaborators Matt Chamberlain on drums, Jon Evans on bass, and Mac Aladdin on guitars. Tori has enlisted the help of a Big Band and an Orchestra with stunning John Philip Shenale arrangements to create Tori's new seasonal classics.
