OK, so the vocal is Missy Elliott's '4 My People.' And the music, well - it's a veritable country-fied throwdown, that I swear I know in my head, but I can not for the life of me NAME it! Those violins and fiddles - is this like from the 'Brokeback Mountain' soundtrack or something? Either way, all you popbytes readers who do know what it is, school me and tell me! On paper you might scratch your head. But on your stereo - loud - it'll make you wanna stomp around a burning barn in a pair of gangsta cowboy boots and bling-encrusted overalls. UPDATE! oh it's getting late - i need to go to bed but i just got home (i filled up my gas tank on the way back and this lady asked me to drive her down sunset blvd - i politely told her no...) the show was great except the venue was super packed (with some really cute people) and hot - this guy who totally looked like 'jabba the hut' was dancing in front of me along with some dude who looked like his 'cousin vinny' - ugh! i thought hercules and love affair did a superb job performing their tasty disco soaked tracks live - everyone was dancing up a sweaty storm but i ended up hanging out on the back patio where i ran into popbytes' mashup man DJ paul v. and i got to catch up with ms. sam (always a blast to go out with) we had so much to talk about - i'm going to miss her when she moves to the big apple soon! anyways it's seriously time to lay it down - i need to get up early tomorrow - popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo

hey hey! this week's national enquirer is featuring another drug den although this one is for sure tamer than whitney houston's crack den (which made the cover back in march '06) apparently lisa marie presley's 21-year-old half-brother navarone garibaldi (pictured here with dreadlocks) is a big-time pot dealer - with the tasty green buds hanging in the closet and pounds more growing in the basement! the main thing that shocks me about all this is finding out lisa marie has a half-brother - i had zero clue that mom priscilla presley had a son with her one-time partner of 22 years director marco garibaldi! i'm totally in support of legalization of marijuana but having a drug den probably isn't the smartest idea (and if you ever tried to grow herb - it's certainly not easy at all)

in other news there's a new revelation about britney spears' mom lynne spears past - she did in fact run over & kill a 12-year-old boy years ago...gosh i couldn't imagine living with that - it sounds like it was a complete accident but still i wouldn't be able to let that go! at least she didn't run - i get crazy whenever i hear about hit & runs on the news - i'd be so freaked out if i hit someone but i would never leave the scene - that's so bad! just the thought of it gives me chills - i have this phobia of car accidents - the main reason i still cannot watch that david cronenberg flick crash - car wrecks freak me out! ok let's seriously move onto happier topics next time - popbytes over & out for now...xxoo

estelle getty - rest in peace

oh today is a super sad day - earlier today i heard of the passing of estelle getty and my heart just sank :( she died this morning three days before 85th birthday - i knew she had been sick over the last few years suffering from lewy body dementia (not good times) at least she's in a better place and no longer in any kind of pain or anguish but ms. getty is so missed already - there's been an outpouring of posts today on the web - everyone loves the golden girls on which she played oh so sassy & feisty sophia petrillo her most famous & beloved role yet she did have a number of great bits in other movies (mannequin, mask, tootsie, and stop! or my mom will shoot) she's the first golden gal to pass onto the other side - i can't bear losing any of the other ladies anytime soon - especially bea arthur (not to discount betty white or rue mcclanahan but maude is my girl) we love & miss you estelle getty and i'd like to say for everyone - thank you for being a friend - xxoo

Sadly, today July 22, 2008 at 5:35 a.m. Pacific Time, we said our last good-byes to our little friend Estelle, who passed away and made her journey to the great beyond. Although it was a trip that she never wanted to take, she went gracefully, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her family and her very loving care-givers.

Estelle's legacy will live on and on through the comedy and laughter she gave to us all, which will forever keep us laughing out loud.

Estelle was a fighter. She always stood up for the underdogs, fought for equality for all, and always pictured a world filled with "Love and Laughter" -- her most favorite catch phrase.

Estelle, we love you and will miss you dearly. We pray that you are met at the Pearly Gate with open arms and a warm welcome by all who have passed before you. If there's a stage over there, I know you'll be on it. If there's a thrift shop, I know you'll be shopping, and if there's a deli, I know you'll be eating there holding court with Rhoda and Sylvia ... and the laughter will be heard throughout the heavens.

good morning! i'm about to share one of my latest guilty music pleasures - another piece of european dance pop fluff with germany's fragma's re-issue of toca's miracle which was originally conceived as a mashup with their track toca me and coco star's single i need a miracle (she's pictured at the bottom) hence toca's miracle (watch the original video) which went onto to become a worldwide dance sensation and now eight years later it's back and is one of those songs that'll get stuck in your head for days! there's also a new sexy video for the track which was causing a bit of a stir over in the UK - check out some of the hot stills & video below along with a killer remix of toca's miracle - the perfect summer track that'd be so much better on a weekend than a monday but unfortunately that's where we're at right now (sad but true) popbytes over & out...xxoo

at least katie holmes looks like one in the picture below with her smaller hubby tom cruise standing next to her - the couple took in a little motorcycle racing this afternoon at red bull's moto grandprix held in laguna seca, california - right now girlfriend is quite busy (even while rocking purple hands) ms. holmes is not only going to be starring on broadway (in a revival of arthur miller's play all my sons - previews begin september 18th, opening night is on october 16th) she's also returning to her television roots by doing a guest appearance on ABC's eli stone which will air on october 21st! i really have no major feelings about katie one way or the other - she's really not that great of an actress (however i did like her in both go and thank you for smoking) although she might have initially thought marrying tom might have helped her career - with all the bizarre scientology rumors - katie probably would have fared better staying single (she totally missed out on being part of the dark knight) the best thing to come out of the tomkat union is little suri cruise who is super adorable! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo

meryl streep totally shines in 'mamma mia!'

hey kids! i seriously cannot pass up any movie musicals - even if i think it might be awful - that's why i took myself to an early morning showing of mamma mia! over at arclight cinemas (i made sure to pick a seat in the back) and i must say it's not the best flick ever but it was pretty enjoyable overall - i especially loved meryl streep (without her the movie would blow) who isn't the best singer around but she's a complete joy to watch up on the silver screen! (the only truly painful moment was when ms. streep sings 'the winner takes it all' which seemed to last forever...) i also really liked christine baranski & julie waters who played ms. streep's friends from the past (and kudos to amanda seyfried - the best vocalist in the movie) the guys were ok as well but i think pierce brosnan shouldn't be allowed to sing anymore - he's charming and all that jazz but vocally - not so great! in the end i'd say if you wanted to see this movie you should totally go but i wouldn't talk anyone into seeing it and although i enjoyed myself i doubt you'll catch me anytime soon watching the stage version of the musical - one time around with mamma mia! was enough! popbytes over & out for now...xxoo

i saw 'the dark knight'

hey kids! i decided to brave going to see the dark knight this afternoon although i knew it would be a total zany packed scene - even though i was in the theatre at 4pm for a 4:30pm showing (at the grove) i had to sit very close to the front in the third row which completely ticked me off and tossed me into bad mood central - i don't like to be in the front but i really had no other choice but to crouch down and look up for two and a half hours! to be 100% honest i have mixed feelings on the movie - it's stylish, dark and action-packed (director christopher nolan did an excellent job) but i think my overall excitement over seeing the film set my expectations way too high and i do feel a drop disappointed - the hype is probably bigger than the film itself - which is already making tons of money and setting all kinds of records! (however i feel like i need to see the movie again yet next time i totally need to sit in the back - today it was so up in my face)

the late heath ledger did an amazing job at making the joker a sinister & haunting psychopath creep but if i were forced to choose i still personally prefer jack nicholson's campy creation back in the 1989 version of batman (directed by tim burton - also responsible for batman returns my favorite of the franchise) yet it's tough to compare the two performances - they're completely different from each other (a comic book madman vs a realistic psycho) it's still tough to believe that mr. ledger is actually gone - i do hope he gets an oscar nomination (like recent buzz suggests...) what he did with the part was incredible & brilliant - what a shame to lose such a talented actor!

as for the character of 'rachel dawes' - kudos to maggie gyllenhaal who was much better suited for the part than katie holmes (batman begins) and then there's hottie christian bale who is hands down the best actor to ever play the caped crusader - he's perfect in the role! the rest of the cast including cutie aaron eckhart, michael caine, morgan freeman, and gary oldman were all superb - i just wanted to like it more than i did but due to all the drama at the theatre - i seriously have to give the film a second chance (perhaps next weekend) popbytes over & out for now...xxoo

PS without spoiling the end - i will say that i am super excited over the possibilities for the next film - with all the money it's raking in - of course there's going to be another one!

yup here's another post about lindsay lohan and her gal pal samantha ronson (yesterday sam was blowing lindsay kisses) ms. lohan was in NYC tonight helping to celebrate 10 years of sephora in the lower east side at the angel orensanz foundation - she was sporting a hat just like her 'lady friend' ms. ronson who always seems to be wearing a hat - also in attendance was lindsay's ultimate stage mother dina lohan along with samantha's twin sister & designer charlotte ronson (seen in this picture) i seriously had NO clue that samantha had a twin sibling! (i did know she had one super hot & talented brother aka mark ronson) the general vibe i'm feeling from across the net is overall acceptance & approval of lindsay & samantha's relationship - they are so adorable together! popbytes over & out for tonight...xxoo
