it being so cold in NYC – popbytes had to seek some refuge – so i took in a spectacular gem of a film on friday afternoon – sideways – the latest film from director alexander payne – who did two of my fave movies – citizen ruth & election – tells the story of two college buddies on a ‘last hurrah’ journey before one of them gets married – taking a wine tour trip up the coast of california – starring paul giametti (sure-fire oscar nomination), thomas haden church, and virginia madsen (look for her shining monologue on a bottle of wine being alive) – the acting and the script were great – and the story bittersweet – funny and often touching – popbytes couldnt recommend a movie more – and there was a lot about all the technicals and details of wine too – and we all know popbytes enjoys his wine – but felt ashamed as merlot was slammed in the movie (i like it!) but now im itching to try some first class pinot noir – check out the website and go see sideways!
