You guys know by now that I have a thing for musicals (which is probably why I’m such a Gleek!) but I can also be quite picky, there’s a bunch of musicals I don’t actually care for. (Off the top of my head … Fiddler On The Roof, Into The Woods, Guys and Dolls) I’m very happy to report the new musical Leap Of Faith (adapted from the 1992 film starring Steve Martin) is one of the most upbeat and feel good musicals I’ve seen in quite awhile! I attended the opening night here in Los Angeles (the show is making its world premiere at CTGLA) with my pal Tina, we both loved it plus the music was terrific, thanks to eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken! As far as the performances, cutie Raúl Esparza was incredible, when the show makes it to Broadway (which I assume it will) he should definitely be nominated for a Tony and as for Brooke Shields did a decent job, she’s not really a singer but Brooke surprisingly holds her own for most of the show (and she’s still gorgeously tall!) Unfortunately time is running out, the show is closing on October 24th (10 performances left) so if you happen to be in the LA area, do not miss this show! (Clips / photos below)
