Singer/songwriter Lily Allen is opening up about her many losses and struggles in the new documentary Lily Allen: From Riches to Rags. Among the topics she addresses, her miscarriage in 2008 which she described to the Daily Mail as “a really long battle … and I think the kind of thing that changes a person.” Since that pivotal moment in her life the star has been notoriously silent about her private life, so this documentary comes as something of a surprise. Other topics of discussion include her battle with bulimia, she states “I looked really good … but I wasn’t happy, I really wasn’t”. She also reveals frank details on her stormy familial relationship with sister Sarah, and their path to healing and eventually opening the boutique Lucy in Disguise in London together.
It’s really refreshing to see such a candid side of a celebrity, exceedingly real and very role-modelish which is so lacking in the realm of fame today. And things do get better, Lily recently visited with Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel to discuss details about her wedding dress she’ll wear to her and fiance, Sam Cooper’s ceremony. Good can come from tragedy …
The documentary will appear March 15th in the UK on Channel 4 as a three part series.
