Neil Patrick Harris killed it at the 2013 Tony Awards!

Neil Patrick Harris | The 2013 Tony Awards

In case you missed it, the annual 2013 Tony Awards were last night, where Kinky Boots basically demolished the night and took home the award for Best Musical (along with Pippin which scored Best Revival of a Musical). Anyway, Neil Patrick Harris hosted for the second year in a row, and once again killed it with one hell of an opening number. Except apparently there’s some completely fabricated controversy at play here, as The Daily Mail accused NPH of calling Mike Tyson the n-word. Three things here …

  1. It’s The Daily Mail here. Chances are they’re just trolling for unearned page views, which is why we haven’t bothered linking to them. Sorry ’bout it.
  2. What’s more likely here: That someone misheard what Neil sang during a moment where the audience drowned him out with their applause, or that The Tony Awards okayed NPH to randomly shoehorn in unexplainable racism in the middle of a national broadcast? Exactly. Neil Patrick Harris is a legend and The Daily Mail sh!t the bed on this one is what I’m saying.
  3. Mike Tyson is one of the best boxers to ever live. I’m pretty sure if you ever called him the n-word to his face, you’d be mashed potatoes within seconds.
