Robyn + Röyksopp = Perfect Combination!

Robyn + Röyksopp

A week ago I was lucky enough to attend Robyn and Röyksopp‘s sold out show at the Hollywood Bowl (a mere five-minute stroll from my apartment) with 17,000 other people. The Swedish pop star (who has actually been on the music scene for almost twenty years now) and Norwegian duo joined forces together, recently releasing a tight five-track EP called Do It Again (iTunes) and are now promoting it on their Do It Again Tour 2014, there’s only a few more US dates, so check the schedule here.

Whenever the Bowl is at capacity, I know it’s going to be a fantastic show, and it totally was with everyone up on their feet the entire time (plus it wasn’t a lease event so you could bring in your own drinks and snacks). First Röyksopp did a solo set with fellow Norwegian singer Susanne Sundfor (they’re always stellar), next Robyn worked her unique pop magic and then they played together whipping us up into a dance frenzy. I’ve seen Robyn a number of times in concert before, she consistently puts on a great show, my only complaint this time around was that her set was too damn short! I could have easily dealt with a lot more Robyn, especially her track “Hang With Me,” which sadly didn’t make the cut into this show, thankfully “Indestructible” did. In the questionable climate of the music industry these days, it’s refreshing to see musicians collaborate like this, I hope we haven’t seen the last of Robyn and Röyksopp working together. Lastly, I pray that Robyn is busy finishing her next full-length album, her seventh studio release Body Talk (which is INCREDIBLE) dropped back in 2010, so we are definitely overdue when it comes to new music (she did actually perform two new songs during her set, so there is hope), yet the Do It Again EP should tide us over—for now.
