Spider-Man: Returning to the Marvel Studios Movie Universe!

Spider-man

After getting royally dicked around in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, somebody over at Marvel Studios must have figured that they needed to save Peter Parker (at least momentarily) before he got stuck with another Spider-Man 3. Well, good news! Marvel has reached an agreement with Sony Pictures which will see Spidey’s next movie produced by Marvel. He’s saved! At least for now. SlashFilm reports …

  • “Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.”
  • Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of the Spider-Man franchise on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his team at Marvel and Amy Pascal.
  • Marvel and Sony Pictures are also “exploring opportunities to integrate characters from the MCU into future Spider-Man films.”
  • Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films.

So basically, Spider-Man will get one brief shot of redemption again before Sony continues to milk him for movies because if they don’t, they lose the film rights to him. Well, at least this will all give us a glimpse at what could have been.
