The Sounds - Better Off Dead

March 29th is lining up to be a big day for music. BritBrit’s highly-anticipated new album, Femme Fatale, comes out (yet that date could move up since the album leaked yesterday online). Being released the same day, Something to Die For from The Sounds, is the best band you’ve probably never heard of – shame on you! Honestly, I don’t know why these guys aren’t huge by now.

Around since ’99, the Swedish band is about to release their fourth album, and they’ve got some pretty famous fans who are excited (including Britney Spears, Quentin Tarantino and Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters). If you were lucky enough to see No Doubt when they were on tour in ’09, you saw The Sounds open for them.

Remember that awful movie, Snakes on a Plane, from 2006? The lead singer, Maja Ivarsson, was featured on the movie’s theme Snakes on a Plane (Bring It), so I can guarantee you’ve heard her (that song was freaking everywhere!). Songs from The Sounds have also been featured on The Vampire Diaries, and American Idol.

The first single from Something to Die For is called Better Off Dead and if you ask me, this needs to be on a movie soundtrack – STAT! I think it has an awesome theatricality factor going on and it would sound perfect for a really dark and sexy movie. It could even work for James Bond, although unfortunately that whole franchise seems to be dead in the water right now.

Take a listen to Better Off Dead below!
