Oh, it is on, shots have been fired towards Team Britney, bitch! With the recent leak (listen below) of an unedited version of “Alien”, media outlets have been blasting the pop icon over allegations of heavily depending on auto tune in her music career. Personally, this is nothing shocking, many mainstream pop artists rely on some level of auto-tune while laying down preliminary tracks in the studio during album production, as well as during performances and touring, it’s a simple fact. From Mariah Carey to Justin Timberlake, the music industry utilizes technology to enhance artists’ vocals during the creation process; it’s a necessary tool in the current industry. Britney Spears is an international pop icon, she is not only an enormous talent, but also a performer, an entertainer, and foremost, a human being, incapable of total perfection. With a career spanning almost two decades, the pop princess has done it all, twice, “I love what I do, and at this point in my career, I don’t feel like I have anything left to prove … I just want to perform and inspire people”, said Spears in December 2013 during Britney Jean promotional interviews. At the end of the day, the production process is about creating, and giving the fans something they can enjoy. Whether it’s a personal heartfelt ballad, or a club-banging power anthem, Britney has given the world something to connect to, and she’s not stopping anytime soon. Keep on dancing, Britney!
