beth orton is so cool!



hey kids! i am so excited to write about this incredible album from beth orton called comfort of strangers which is due to be released this tuesday february 7th – i have been a huge fan of beth since her debut album trailer park was released in april of ’97 – she has such a nice stripped down quality and vulnerability to her voice – she is very relaxing and i just absolutely adore her latest musical venture! plus she is playing in LA at the avalon in march – i am so there! totally listen to one of the best tracks on the album called shadow of a doubt below – and please do check out her website where you can catch the video for the first album single conceived (which features ms. orton with puppets – i love puppets!) – popbytes over & out for now! xxoo!

Comfort of Strangers – The 14-track album was recorded at New York’s Sear Sound studio in the spring of 2005 with Jim O’Rourke as producer. It features Beth Orton on guitar, piano and harmonica with O’Rourke on bass, piano and marimba and the esteemed American percussionist Tim Barnes on drums. Beth Orton composed all the songs, although the title track was written in partnership with O’Rourke and singer-songwriter M. Ward.
