David LaChapelle is suing Rihanna! Of course.

Rihanna - S&M

So by now you’ve probably heard how Rihanna‘s music video for S&M is apparently a carbon copy of photographer David LaChapelle‘s work, so it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that LaChapelle is now suing RiRi for plagiarism. Because apparently, only one person is allowed to create shitty, bubble gum pop versions of fetishes.

In the lawsuit, which was made public on Monday, LaChapelle accuses Rihanna of ripping images from his popular photographs, which have appeared in publications such as Rolling Stone and Vanity Fair. LaChapelle claims that “the music video is directly derived from and substantially similar to the LaChapelle works,” and has copied the “composition, total concept, feel, tone, mood, theme, colors, props, settings, decors, wardrobe and lighting” of his popular work. A couple things here: First, I don’t think Rihanna actually creates her own music videos. Come to think of it, I don’t think ANY pop artist creates their own videos. Second, David LaChapelle does not hold the fucking patent on kink, no matter how washed-down it is. Oh look, Rihanna also walked a man on a dog leash. So what? That’s been an S&M staple since fucking FOREVER. Rihanna’s video may have sucked, but fuck David LaChapelle. That bitch didn’t create kink.
