Has Paris Hilton’s moment (finally) passed?

Paris Hilton

While her new Oxygen reality show tanks and she’s still struggling to remain relevant despite the fact that she has no discernible talent, Paris Hilton has decided to film an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America, and when asked is the rise of other equally stupid celebutards is sucking precious, precious attention away from her, Paris had a little moment where she had to suppress the part of her brain responsible for reflection and self-awareness.

“Do you worry at times that the people who have followed in your footsteps, like Kim Kardashian, are overshadowing you?” Harris asked. “No, not at all,” a sullen Hilton replied, noting that she’s not discouraged by the show’s low ratings to-date. Harris pressed on: “Do you ever wonder … about your moment having passed?” At that point, a peeved Paris peered off-screen, leading to what Harris called “a long, heated conversation with Hilton and her publicist” before taping of the segment resumed. Okay, that’s actually a pretty fair question, especially since (A) it’s justifiably true, and (B) it would actually require Paris to examine her life, her decisions and the way she’s treated people. But instead she froze up, and had to consult someone else to think for her. Honestly, this may be the most defining moment of Paris’ life: she’s given every opportunity to be insightful and occasionally even nice, but continues to squander it on bullshit PR stunts.
