Jessica Simpson is to get her own NBC sitcom based on her life’s experiences. The comedy series has yet to be cemented but is definitely in development so look forward to it (or not) in the ensuing pilot seasons on television. Simpson has limited television (remember Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica?) and film exposure (Employee of the Month, anyone?) so this will be her first major headlining work as an actress. Though she’s been touted as a moron before, clueless, and even talentless, she’s proven herself a magnate in the fashion industry and will hopefully carry her success over into TV sitcoms.

Deadline: NBC has ordered a comedy pilot presentation starring Jessica Simpson. The single-camera project, inspired by Simpson’s life, is based on a pitch developed by Robin and Nick Bakay, with Nick Bakay (Two And A Half Men) writing the pilot script. Ben Silverman’s Electus and Universal Television are producing. “I often find myself thinking that no one could ever make up the things that actually happen in my life — so between the real-life elements and a great team of writers, I think we’ll have people laughing!,” Simpson said.
