phantom of opera on DVD

key kids – another stroll down memory lane! i finally caught a viewing of phantom of the opera which landed on DVD not so long ago – i was so thrilled to see the flick – as ‘phantom’ was my very first broadway show – and an amazing one to boot – i saw it 4x on broadway – and it is a truly a terrific & entertaining show (and in the end who really could compare to the original brilliant musical duo of michael crawford & sarah brightman) – so i was quite curious how it would adapt into a movie – the book/music is kept up 100% faithful to the andrew lloyd webber penned musical – but something got very lost in translation – although the sets were great – and the general look and feel was gorgeous – i think i prefer more ‘left to your imagination’ style – the broadway show has a stark & haunting, mysterious quality – that just got lost when it made it to the silver screen – if your a fan of the show – the film is a must see – but i urge you more to catch the broadway show if you haven’t – gosh i do miss that broadway of NYC so so much – it just ain’t the same here in los angeles (ie ‘wicked’ in LA with no kristen or idina – sorry a no-go) – anyways popbytes out for now – much love to all as always! you all rock for listening to me here – xxoo
