With The Avengers making a ton of money at the box office and thus cementing half a dozen bankable characters on which to base lucrative movies, Captain America is getting a sequel called Captain America: The Winter Soldier. No, I have no idea what that means; yes, you can probably get away with a “The Winter Soldier is coming” joke if you’re willing to stretch for that one. Anyway, Scarlett Johansson is reportedly going to be appearing in the movie as the Black Widow, and Alison Brie will also be making her way onto the movie … maybe. So yay for that! A/V Club reports …
As many Captain America readers have already speculated, it’s possible she may also be there to get romantically involved with said Winter Soldier, though all that’s known at this point is that she won’t be getting into it with Captain America—both because this would cause apoplectic fits, and because there are already five other ladies currently lining up to be his love interest. According to Deadline, they are: Game Of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke; Downton Abbey‘s Jessica Brown Findlay; Teresa Palmer; Imogen Gay Poots, who is still named that; and as mentioned in the A.V. Club-pandering headline, Alison Brie, who may have an advantage seeing as Community‘s Anthony and Joe Russo are directing.
